Hotel Samsara was an ARG that began with an update to SOMA, and ultimately teased the next game from the developers of SOMA, Frictional Games.

Discovery

The corrupted email added to SOMA in the 2025-09-22 patch

On September 22, 2025, SOMA was updated to add a new email to the protagonist's PC. The body of this email was mostly legible, but an occasional letter of the email was substituted for a series of symbols. The end of the email read:

Sign up now at ***(0);;;/e/]]]]$$$?~>>>+$$$?~%?~.^^(0)>>>+

Luxury awaits

Based on the other substitutions throughout the email, players were able to replace the symbols with the correct letters, assembling the string: hotelsamsara.com.

At this URL, a fictitious company called "Luxury Next" sought investors for a new development called "Hotel Samsara." The website included investor testimonials from Luxury Next's previous projects, as well as a sign-up form for email updates. Before players could submit the sign-up form, they had to answer a question:

Players who signed up for email updates received one of two emails, based on which answer they chose to the above question:

By combining the body text of both emails, then taking the first letter of each sentence, a message was found: FOLLOWERSOF__. An X logo was also found at the bottom of both emails, which led players to the X account FollowersOf__.
