On December 29th, 2015, a user in the Discord chat named Neon Scalar discovered that there was a Javascript file embedded on the store pages for all games. The contents of this file can be found in this Pastebin.

This script causes a popup box to appear after the user types the word SEARCH on the page and presses Enter. The user can then enter text into the box and submit it, which has different effects based on what was entered, and which store page it was submitted from.

Known combinations

940509990147 on Hitman: Codename 47's store page returns the text "ic/4f21ca7"

Hot toddies and maseratis on the Grim Fandango Remastered store page leads to Undertale's store page.

Bullet hell on Undertale's store page leads to Ikaruga's store page.

1v7531 on Ikaruga's store page rewards the user with the Red Herring badge.

Brute Force Attempts

Some community members have been attempting to brute force the search prompt. Although this is arguably not in the spirit of an ARG, any discoveries will be logged.

A site for anyone to easily attempt entry strings has been created.
